OverviewThe Public Relations and Digital Associate is an integral member of the Wilson Daniels' Communications team. The ideal candidate will have experience in all facets of communication - including media-facing, consumer-facing, and B2B - to ensure that consistent and compelling messaging about Wilson Daniels and its family of producers is delivered to the relevant audience. Primary areas of focus will be writing and editing copy, obtaining press appointments nationally for Wilson Daniels' suppliers, pitching stories to the media, corporate event management, overseeing sample submissions to trade publications, and maintaining social media platforms for Wilson Daniels and several of its portfolio brands. PR Responsibilities

  • Write and edit copy (press releases, press pitches, sales kit materials for Wilson Daniels' suppliers, company website content, internal communications)
  • Oversee wine samples and submissions to top wine trade publications
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with relevant media to generate awareness of winery initiatives, new launches, thought leadership, or activities
  • Set up press appointments for suppliers visiting different markets throughout the US
  • Build seasonal pitching calendar followed by active pitching
  • Oversee and support winery partners' participation in national trade events
  • Assist Media Relations and Communications Manager with organizing lunches/dinners, vintage releases, and press trips to communicate key messaging on behalf of winery partners and Wilson Daniels with relevant and influential members of the media and digital landscape
  • Work with Media Relations and Communications Manager to develop communications strategies that integrate owned and earned media and events
    Digital Responsibilities
    • Implement social media strategy and set KPIs to align with business goals
    • Collaborate with Marketing team to plan and maintain a content calendar
    • Leverage strong writing skills, deep understanding of platform-specific norms, and trending audience insights to create and publish engaging content weekly (e.g. original text, photos, videos, and news)
    • Adhere to a consistent style guide and authentic WD voice while accounting for tonal differences between social media platforms
    • Collaborate with Sales team and Accounts to coordinate social media content development (e.g. taking photos at events, developing creative content to promote WD wines, holidays, or events, etc.)
    • Monitor SEO and web traffic metrics to evaluate digital program success and identify growth opportunities; generate monthly social media performance reports
    • Communicate with followers, respond to queries in a timely manner
    • Work with third party agency to guide maintenance of corporate website
      • 1-2 years PR experience in-house and/or agency required, with wine and spirits background a plus
      • Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications, and/or the liberal arts or equivalent experience required
      • Strong media sense; able to work closely with journalists to effectively pitch, craft and shape media stories proactively and reactively; Active editorial relationships across US media a plus
      • Superb verbal, written, story-telling and editing skills, including driving engaging and consistent messaging across communications channels
      • Organized and excellent follow-through a must; detail-oriented and deadline driven
      • Proactive, self-motivated, energized, creative, takes initiative with confidence
      • Team player with a positive attitude
      • Flexible; ability to adapt to changing needs/priorities; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
      • Technologically savvy; ability to harness new media effectively with a keen understanding of all types of media/channels that will engage our external audiences
      • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs
      • Adobe InDesign and Photoshop experience a plus
      • Knowledge of SEO, keyword research, and Google Analytics a plus
      • Occasional overtime and travel may be required
