The roleThe Independent is looking for a climate reporter to join
its growing US team.
We're looking for a reporter who is not only capable of helping to
expand our coverage of the 'big' climate moments - like Cops and
IPCC reports - but also someone who is driven to seek out stories
linked to the climate crisis that are off the beaten track.
We want someone who can cut through jargon and waffle and bring
clarity to complex topics, and who can help readers understand why
and how the climate crisis relates to their lives, along with the
players and forces who are shaping the battle for a greener
We're looking for someone with a strong interest in science and/or
a background in science reporting; who is comfortable tracking down
information and having conversations with scientists, political
leaders, activists and business figures. A broad understanding of
the news landscape is also important, to have the ability to place
climate stories in the bigger picture.
