Newsletter Editor - Masters of Scale

Company: WaitWhat
Location: Walton
Posted on: January 16, 2022

Job Description:

WaitWhat's Newsletter editor will turn our active weekly mailing list for the popular Masters of Scale podcast into a vibrant, editorially rich, habit-forming newsletter that stands on its own as a compelling product and an entry point to the brand on its own. You'll lead the effort to design and build an engaging newsletter - and build its audience against aggressive growth targets that take into account the authentic appeal of the brand.

You'll curate resources, assign or write short articles and listicles, and leverage audio and video to build well-rounded, must-open mailings to send off to growing audiences that love to open what Masters of Scale sends.

About WaitWhat

WaitWhat is creating the most valuable independent portfolio of premium IP at the intersection of daily habit and human potential - with a contrarian strategy to scale.

Downloaded more than 70 million times, WaitWhat's media properties have defined new genres in the areas of business, wellness, creativity, technology and more. In everything WaitWhat creates, it aims to elicit the contagious emotions of wonder, curiosity, and mastery - infusing its content with "Wait, what?" moments that spark curiosity and help us live at the top of our potential.

Based in New York City, WaitWhat has built a valuable team who are committed to the founders' vision for inventing first-of-their-kind media platforms that endure and scale. The company's vibrant culture is rooted in optimism, possibility thinking, and an uncommon willingness to embrace risk with intention to push the outer bounds of creativity and experimentation. The team - purposefully rich in diversity - treats each other with kindness and respect, and always supporting "yes, and"-style conversations.

You'll develop an editorially rich and engaging newsletter tied to our award-winning podcast Masters of Scale and its related products, including the Masters of Scale Courses app, the new Masters of Scale book and our live and virtual events.
You'll work closely with our producers to understand the content they're creating, and how it can be enriched and expanded in a newsletter
You'll develop your own ideas for content that will ensure the Masters of Scale newsletter is not just a recap of content from other mediums, but an original format that works natively as a newsletter
You'll work with editorial and marketing teams to craft and test a package of editorial that will engage and grow our audiences week after week
You'll work with our world-class design team to create a newsletter layout that delights and surprises (and looks great on any platform)
You'll dive into our mailing lists and communities and come up with a fresh understanding of our owned audiences and how to develop them, and create and lead the tactics for that growth
You'll lead on aggressive growth goals for the newsletter audience, using both organic and paid techniques to build our list into authentic, engaged owned audiences. You'll live in the stats dashboards.
You'll work with our community and social team to understand how to feed our fans and keep them aware of live events and other happenings around the show they love, directing traffic to revenue-generating and audience-building products.
You'll assist with partnership activations around the newsletter as it grows
You'll help draft related email blasts as needed to communities you know
And more! This is a growing company whose mission is to expand in an organic and authentic way. Newsletters are key to that growth. Expect to learn new platforms, tools and skills at a very fast clip.
