About This Opportunity
This is a full-time, exempt position and is located in or near Albany-NY, Springfield-MA, Hartford-CT, Utica-NY, Burlington-VT, or anywhere in the Northeast (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York.) You must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the area in order to travel to client sites.

We are seeking a Project Engineer II with experience in industrial systems and/or energy efficiency. Successful candidates will work directly with our utility customers and industrial clients to identify and study opportunities for maximizing energy efficiency and performance in industrial systems.

Our Project Engineers take a consultative approach, gathering data, installing logging equipment, creating optimization models of industrial systems, and writing feasibility reports for energy efficiency projects while leading overall management of projects. In addition to technical consultation, our Project Engineers also work with industrial customers to present projects to their management, establish energy teams at the facility, and mentor customers on best practices for energy management.

The position requires approximately 35% travel, most of which is local/tri-state area. This could be a half-day trip to a site or to a vendor, a full-day trip to multiple sites, or an occasional overnight trip to a more distant area. We are currently working remotely due to COVID restrictions and will ensure you have a fully functioning remote workstation to work from home.

    Essential Functions

    • Provide overall management, direction and accountability on assigned projects
    • Engage with clients at their industrial locations to fully understand their equipment and operations and to identify opportunities for energy efficiency
    • Calculate energy savings for various system or equipment changes using existing calculation tools, original spreadsheets, and/or generally accepted methodologies
    • Foster and grow client relationships and identify opportunities for generating additional work from current clients
    • Compose energy efficiency project reports based on analyses and observations
    • Document performance through data collection from customer sources or via installed data logging equipment
    • Excel-based modeling and optimization of industrial systems (refrigeration, compressed air, fans, and pumps)
    • Write feasibility reports for energy efficiency projects
    • Work within various utility and public demand side management programs
    • Commissioning of existing systems or newly installed efficiency projects to maximize energy performanceReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

      Education & Experience
      • Bring 3-8 years of experience with industrial energy efficiency or equivalent engineering
      • Have a BS and/or MS in mechanical or chemical engineering or similar field
      • Demonstrate Strong engineering analysis skills using MS Excel
      • Have done project management of capital projects in an industrial setting, including industrial facilities and, systems, and refrigeration.
      • Demand Side Management (DSM) program engineering experience
      • Experience with energy modeling including linear regression analysis, hourly industrial system analysis and time-of-day demand management analysis.
      • Technical expertise with the following industrial sub-systems; compressed air, refrigeration, process cooling, pumps and fans, industrial controls, and data-logging of systems
      • Experience giving technical trainings to industrial customers
      • Strong technical and interpersonal communication skills.About Us

        Compensation & Benefits
        The job offer will be determine by internal equity, market data and level of position. Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits.
