Responsibilities: A phlebotomist is a trained supportive person who obtains venous, finger; heel punctures blood specimens for clinical laboratory examination. This staff member performs order entry functions in the laboratory computer system, performs DOT and EBT collection and testing. They also process specimens which are drawn in the hospital as well as specimens received from our outpatient accounts. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Phlebotomy program ending in certification preferred.

Experience: Documentation of having completed 50 successful supervised, adult and pediatric venipuncture and 15 successful supervised adult ad pediatric skin punctures preferred. Must possess a driver's license for Outreach activities.
Physical Demands: Position will primarily be light work requiring lifting up to 25 pounds with occasional lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Occasional bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling and reaching is required. Requires 80% sitting and 20% standing or walking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word is required.
Working Environment: Will have frequent exposure to blood, body substances, infectious materials, chemical hazards, vibration, radiation, slippery surfaces, or noise that may result from performance of duties.

Degree of Supervision Required: Moderate supervision but must be able to work independently.
