- We are adding an advance practitioner to our surgical oncology
team that cares for patients with Gastric, Pancreatic and Abdominal
Cancers. Some of the OR cases the team does include melanoma,
sarcoma, thyroid and parathyroid disease.- we also perform robotic
surgery - -
- The Advance Practitioner will focus on clinic with their own
clinic templates. OR component is about 25-30% of total clinical
time. Inpatient role consists of weekly coverage for Surgical
Resident education- approx 1 day/ week - -
- OR opportunity available - - - -
- current team consists of two surgeons and another APP
- Minimal call coverage
- Opportunity to work in multidisciplinary team focusing practice
on Cancer patients. The team works in the new 2022 Cancer Center at
- Participates in weekly GI Cancer Tumor Board and multispecialty
clinic - additional details:
- Performs initial assessment and triage of patients based on
information obtained pertinent to presenting condition.
- Keeps track of pertinent procedure and laboratory results,
discusses with physician, and returns call to family and patient
regarding the results and plans.
- Assists with arranging appropriate follow-up for the
- Answers and returns phone calls from established patients and
their families and assess the needs of patient and family.
- Discusses plan with the physician and relays information to the
family and patient.
- Obtains or assists in the preauthorization process for
medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments.

therapeutic tasks to establish a diagnosis and to plan therapy.
Assist in gathering the data necessary in implementing the
therapeutic plan of the physician. Act as a patient advocate in the
medical care system serving as confidant, advisor, and liaison
