Department License: Current Registered Nurse License
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: - Associate's
degree from an accredited school of Nursing - Professional
certification in a related nursing specialty (preferred)
Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and
optimizes health and abilities. The RN is responsible for the
prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering
through the diagnosis and treatment of human response. Advocacy in
the care of individuals and families is a key component of the
role. The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of
practice and professional development in accordance with the Nurse
Practice Act and nursing division policies. The RN promotes a
caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
Responsibilities include assessing, planning, delegating,
coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a group
of patients. The RN serves as a primary nurse and/or accountable
nurse when designated by unit assignment. Educational support is
provided to patients and families on health promotion and disease
management using available resources. The RN must utilize a working
knowledge of pharmacology and safely administer medications
according to hospital policy. Sharing in the responsibility for
productivity and effective resource utilization is essential.
Complying with all nursing practice standards, regulatory
requirements, and policies is mandatory. Active participation in
nursing governance and contribution to improvement initiatives is
expected. Engaging in professional development, continuing nursing
education, and completing mandatory educational requirements is
required. Integrating nursing research and current evidence into
practice is crucial. The RN provides a supportive learning
environment for new employees and students. Performing duties
related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned
may be required. Additional responsibilities may be assumed as
