Job Title: Staff Nurse Specialty Care Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 8 or 10 hours (M-F) with an end time of 11:30 PM Experience: 3-5 years in an Operating Room, trauma surgery experience preferred License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS Certification, relevant unit-specific requirements Must-Have: - A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing - Six months to three years of Nursing experience - Collaboration skills - Strong verbal and written communication - Judgment and critical thinking abilities - Organizational understanding - Time management skills - Problem-solving capabilities - Reliability - Safety and risk management knowledge Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. The RN focuses on the prevention of illness and injury and alleviates suffering through diagnosis and treatment. The RN serves as an advocate in the care of individuals and families. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, delegating, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. The RN manages a group of patients and serves as the primary or accountable nurse as assigned. Patient and family education in health promotion and disease management is essential. A working knowledge of pharmacology is required, and medications must be administered safely. The RN shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization. Compliance with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements is mandatory. Participation in a Nursing Shared Governance Model is encouraged. The RN actively engages in professional development and completes mandatory education requirements. Evidence-based nursing research is integrated into practice. A supportive learning environment for new employees and students should be provided. The RN may perform duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned. Participation in professional initiatives and the Clinical Ladder Program is expected. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Shifts are available from 3 PM to 11:30 PM or 1 PM to 11:30 PM. A weekend commitment of one shift every 3 to 4 weeks is required.
