Surgical Tech Location: Norwich, NY Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,858 per week Shift Information: Rotating - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/23/2026 About the Position Job Title: Surgical Technologist Profession: Technician Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 40.00 Experience: OB, Gynecology, General Surgery, and Ortho cases, Cesarean experience required. License: NCCT Tech in Surgery Certified (TS-C) or OR-Certified Surgical Technologist - NBSTSA or National Healthcareer Association. Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - High school diploma or equivalent. - Previous Operating Room experience preferred. - Previous Surgical Technologist experience preferred. Description: Under general direction, observes and practices sterile technique, maintaining asepsis. Anticipates and assists the surgeon as needed. Actively participates in patient care and safety. Utilizes operating room supplies conservatively and operates as a team member. Follows Infection Control policies and procedures and demonstrates expertise in surgical scrub technique. Adheres to principles of sterile technique preoperatively and intra-operatively. Assists the surgeon with gowning, gloving, draping, and passing instruments and other related items during the procedure. Maintains an organized operative field by keeping instruments clean and in their proper place. Keeps an accurate sponge, tape, needle, dissector, and instrument count. Prepares for cases by assembling supplies and equipment according to preference cards. Identifies conflicts or problems and cares for instruments and supplies after each case. Provides a safe surgical environment by identifying potential hazards. Displays knowledge of potential hazards within the operating room. Utilizes experienced staff as a resource and acts as a resource for new personnel. Assists in suturing, retracting, and suctioning under the direction of the surgeon. Handles and identifies specimens according to policy. Expedites the effective and efficient turnover of the operating room between cases. Takes rotating call duty and will perform additional responsibilities as requested. Typical schedule is Monday through Thursday, and includes on-call shifts which may entail responding within 20 minutes for acute emergencies.
