Job Title: Centralus Registered Nurse Per Diem Reports To: System's
Director of Maternal Child/Unit Managers Job Summary: The Centralus
Registered Nurse on Maternal Child Health is responsible for the
provision of direct patient care to a designated group of patients
within the Maternal Child Health department at Arnot Ogden Medical
Center and Cayuga Medical Center. This position will work
collaboratively with Unit leadership to follow the scope of
practice for nursing governing bodies that apply to Maternal Child
Health (AWONN, ACOG, NNA, AORN). These responsibilities will
include the observation data collection, planning, implementation
and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, emotional
educational and spiritual needs. Effectively provides Person
Centered care and services Job Responsibilities: ( Please limit
this to 10 core responsibilities - as opposed to a total list of
tasks) 1* . Assesses patients and families, whose needs range from
uncomplicated to highly complex and quickly recognizes normal
parameters, deviations and abnormalities in physical, emotional,
developmental and behavioral status based on past clinical
experience. Use a person-centered care approach in the development
of care plans and in prioritizing nursing care to meet patient and
family needs. 2* . Plans for care of patients, demonstrating the
ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated
needs. Involves patients and families in establishing care goals 3*
Demonstrates competence in the implementation of the technical
skills required for the care of patients and families. Demonstrates
initiative in remaining current on policies, procedures and
standards. Acts as a resource to peers. 4* Interventions for the
attainment of care goals reflect resourceful involvement of health
team members. Facilitates the linking of patients and families with
other disciplines and services as needed. 5* Evaluates
effectiveness of care giving, and shows on going follow through in
care delivery. Evaluation of care is reflective of the attainment
of care goals. Demonstrates proficiency and compliance with
established practices in clinical documentation. 6* . Demonstrates
critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions,
prioritizing both planned and unplanned events, and proactively
addressing potential and actual problems. 7* Demonstrates awareness
of the value and relevance of research and evidence based practice
in nursing. Practice can be identified as research based. 8* Is
self-directed in assuming responsibilities within the team and care
delivery system. 9* Assists peers and team members in acquiring
department specific knowledge, skills and behaviors. 10* Is
recognized as a department resource for clinical practice and
operational systems 11* Assists others and provides leadership in
implementing the standards of the patient care. 12*Maintains
knowledge base in 1 or more of the specialty areas within Maternal
Child Health (Pediatrics, OB/Postpartum, Labor& Delivery, NICU) 12*
Completes all assigned education modules, orientation, classes, and
competencies required for area(s) of expertise (at both CMC and
Arnot Ogden Medical Center). Requirements Education: Minimum of an
Associates of Applied Science in Nursing. Will obtain BLS during
introductory period BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP within 6 months of
hire. Experience: Is a full-time or part-time RN that is employed
in the Centralus Health System. Experience in at least one area of
Maternal Child Health required (L&D, OB/postpartum, NICU, or
Pediatrics) Licensure: Current NYS RN license. Physical
Requirements: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g. use of the
computer keyboard) light lifting in regards to patient care.
Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time as it
pertains to patient care. Must be physically able to operate the
equipment used for the job. *The Centralus Health Maternal Child
Per Diem RN is exempt from the requirements of Per Diem or Flex
