A specialized opportunity exists for an experienced Registered Nurse skilled in Cardiac Telemetry Stepdown/PCU care, focusing on complex cardiac patients. This contract role in Vestal, NY requires 12-hour night shifts with a 36-hour week every other weekend over a 13-week assignment. Key Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of 5 years as an RN with extensive cardiac telemetry and stepdown or PCU experience Proficiency with TAVR, Watchman devices, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, and pre/post-op open heart care beyond CVICU transfers Skilled in managing cardiac IV/PO medications and dripsCardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, lidocaine, milrinone, heparin, insulin, anticoagulants Comfortable handling complicated cardiac conditions including CHF, arrhythmias, NSTEMI/STEMI, PE, post-op CABG (beyond 3 days) Experienced in sepsis, pneumonia, stroke care, and specialty monitoring like TR band and groin management Must have current BLS and ACLS certifications Ability to accurately complete telemetry skills checklists and confirm cardio experience prior to assignment acceptance Responsibilities: Provide patient-centered assessment, planning, delegation, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for a defined patient group Serve as primary or accountable nurse as assigned, ensuring safety and effective resource use Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management Safely administer medications within established protocols Comply with professional nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and agency policies Participate actively in nursing governance and continuous improvement initiatives Foster professional growth by engaging in ongoing education and mentorship of new staff and students Support a healing environment aligned with organizational values and patient rights About Vestal, NY:Located in the scenic Southern Tier of New York, Vestal offers a balance of small-town charm and access to outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and skiing in nearby regions.
