For detailed information regarding the 55-a Program, please visit the following link https://www1.nyc.gov/site/dcas/employment/55-a-program.pageCompensation:Salary Range:Transit Management Analyst Trainee (TA): $56,586 (Flat Rate: Non-Represented)Transit Management Analyst Trainee (OA): $57,443 (Flat Rate: Rep by TWU)Staff Analyst Trainee I (TA): $55,825 - $59,168 (New Hire rate: $48,543) (Rep by OSA)Staff Analyst Trainee I (OA): $54,026 - $57,267 (Rep by TWU)Staff Analyst Trainee II (TA): $60,288 - $66,990(New Hire rate: $52,425) (Rep by OSA)Staff Analyst Trainee II (OA): $58,351 - $64,832 (Rep by TWU)TA EMPLOYEES MUST BE PERMANENT CIVIL SERVICE In theSTAFF ANALYST TRAINEE I & II, and TRANSIT MANAGEMENT ANALYST TRAINEE TITLE IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED.Responsibilities:This Staff Analyst Trainee will assist to plan and execute examination administrative tasks including, but not limited to the processing of exam applications, scheduling of test candidates, printing and distribution of test materials, and the administration of written exams and protest sessions. Use computerized systems and software to process and score tests, calculate test scores, and generate a variety of exam-related letters and reports. Perform data entry of exam applications and exam information. Prepare letters, memos, instructions and other general office correspondence. Handle and resolve customer inquiries, whether by phone, email or in-person. Perform special assignments as required. Will be required to work a flexible schedule including weekends as needed to administer exams.Education and Experience:STAFF ANALYST TRAINEE I-II1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; or
2. An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following areas: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; or in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; or in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification; or in personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education, or a recognized accrediting organization and four years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above; or
4. A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. College education may be substituted for professional experience at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a high school diploma or its education equivalent.


2. For Appointment to Salary Step 2:
Completion of 1 year of satisfactory service at Step 1.
Transit Management Analyst Trainee1. A master's degree from an accredited college in accounting, architecture,
business administration, computer science, economics, engineering, engineering
technology, finance, industrial psychology, mathematics, physics, public
administration, public policy, transportation planning, urban planning/studies,
human resources management, labor relations, operations research, security
management or in a related area; or

2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by
24 credits in one of the areas listed in "1" above.

Desired Skills:

  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Civil Service Rules and Regulations.
  • Knowledge of NYCT processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft.
