Job Description:

As a Junior Designer, you are passionate about all aspects of design. You want to create innovative experiential solutions while balancing technical knowledge to push boundaries and produce functionally beautiful experiences. You have exceptional design skills, a background in architecture, exhibition design, or interior design, and a portfolio of innovative design thinking.

You function as an integral member of a multidisciplinary design team who will contribute a point of view and participate in conceptual thought-processes, design exploration through final design. You will work under the mentorship and leadership of senior team members on all phases of projects with a focus on ideation for a variety of types of projects including both cultural and commercial.

The Junior Designer position reports to the Director of the Physical Design Department.
This position requires the ability to work on-site in our studio in NYC
Must be able to travel as needed

Requirements

Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist in conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and final design
Participate in design workshops and in-person charrettes
Attend client meetings
Build 3D architectural and interior design models and graphic presentations
Create inspiring mood boards for presentations
For exhibits, work closely with the Content Development team, documenting and arranging artifacts to incorporate in 3D documentation
Work closely with the graphic design team to incorporate graphic elements in 3D documentation
Work closely with the Creative Technology and UX teams to design and incorporate viable media technology solutions in 3D documentation
Translate CAD information from clients to suit design purpose and process
Produce 3D sketches and renderings
Develop physical models, mockups, and prototypes
Draw and document design intent information in standard CAD packages for client and consultant use
Help maintain the material and finish library
Meet deadlines and expectations established by project leads

Required Skills/Abilities:
Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Exhibit Design.
Strong communication skills and ability to develop ideas, and collaborate across a multidisciplinary design process
Strong design development skills and analytical thinking
Proficiency in Rhino, SketchUp, AutoCAD, and Vray and Adobe Creative Suites
Experience in BIM and Enscape a plus
Understanding of standard building materials and finishes
Demonstrates a strong balance of technical expertise and conceptual design skills
Works well in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines

Experience:
0-3 years of professional design experience as a Designer, Interior Designer, Exhibit Designer, or related position.

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Additional Requirements:
Travel required
Must be able to work on site in our NYC Studio
