Bradford County Courthouse - Bradford County ID Caseworker I & II
Salary Range: $17.77 - $18.66
JOB SUMMARY:
The position of Intellectual Disabilities supports Caseworker I consists of identifying, assessing and service planning people referred to our Agency. The needs are reviewed and the service plan developed through regularly scheduled team meeting. The supports coordinator follows through on the short and long term goals developed at the team meeting.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
A person in this position should be well organized and able to take instruction well. They need to be able to work with clients to get them the best possible help and do what is best for them.
The work is performed independently and under supervision when necessary. The Caseworker Supervisor is available when problems arise or a consult is needed. Supervision may be exercised over Caseworkers and clerical workers.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Collecting information from all sources involved with clients; writing case histories and making recommendations from this information to be reviewed at staff meetings.
Participation in team reviews of cases and following through to achieve goals stated in the team meetings.
Maintain an active community caseload and, with supervision, engage individual and family counseling.
Keeping case notes and documenting all services rendered and contacts on behalf of clients.
Keeping daily logs of activities and completing statistical reports as necessary.
Maintaining contact with clients, interested people, and agencies involved with the client through phone calls, and site visits to schools, facilities, institutions, and client homes.
Scheduling appointments and keeping correspondence with all interested parties on client's behalf.
Conferring with supervisory personnel on matters needing clarification and seeking advice about procedures to be utilized.
Participating in staff training and development sessions and in-service training.
Occasional transportation of clients when other transportation is not available.
Being available for after-hours service when developed.
Performs other related work as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works indoors with limited work space, adequate lighting and ventilation, and fluctuation in temperatures; exposure to noise, disruptions, and stress;
Normal indoor exposure to dust/dirt;
Travels as necessary
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to record, convey, and present information, explain procedures, and follow instructions;
Must be able to sit for long periods of time with frequent periods of standing, walking, and occasional twisting, reaching, pulling, and pushing required for obtaining files, doing inspections or other job duties;
Dexterity requirements range from simple to complex movements of fingers/hands, legs/feet, or torso to carry out job duties;
Sedentary work with occasional lifting, 15-20 pounds;
Must demonstrate emotional stability;
Ability to cope with physical and mental stress of the position;
Must be able to pay close attention to detail and concentrate on work.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Good knowledge of modern social services practices, casework philosophy and investigations, ability to deal with children and adults, Good communication and interviewing skills, possession of a Bachelor's degree in Social Services, Sociology, Psychology, or related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE and TRAINING:
Must possess Child Line Clearances and must possess a valid driver's license. Must be able to work flexible hours. Must be Pennsylvania Civil Service Commission eligible.
