In-Home/Community Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Essential Job Duties:
- An IHCS direct support professional is responsible for our
individuals' daily care, training, and supervision. These duties
include but are not limited to:
- Assist clients with self-care skills (i.e., hygiene, bathroom,
feeding).
- Intensive care of clients, providing 1:1 services/support to
individuals.
- Create and assist individuals with daily activities (i.e.,
chores, hygiene, games, and any need in the community)
- Assist individuals with bathroom needs.
- Transport individuals to medical appointments, personal
shopping, and recreational activities.
- Socialization with clients.
- Provide intensive supervision during community
outings.
- Collaboration with other community-based team members.
- Help all individuals in and out of the vehicle; maintaining
safety is a top priority!
- Assist individuals with ensuring they have everything needed
for the day's outing.
- Check individual backpacks for specific notes or spending
money.
- Ensure any money is returned to caretakers at the end of each
community outing.
- Have a complete understating of each client and their
needs.
- Read, understand, and sign off on each ISP before working with
an assigned individual and when an update is announced or
communicated.
- Provide a fun and engaging experience for individuals by
planning new activities.
- Collaboration with other RBL IHCS team members will be
essential to creating unique experiences.
- Accurately complete all documentation and reports of
individuals (progress notes, mileage logs) and submit them to the
Director of IHCS on time.
- Building relationships with families, assigned clients (and
other clients, too), and members of the RBL IHCS team.
- Collaborate with the Behavioral Health department when
applicable.
- Work alongside the Behavior Specialist Consultant to
incorporate strategies and techniques designed for each client's
specific needs when necessary.
- Meet with the Director of IHCS regularly to review notes and
address any questions or issues that may arise daily.
- Complete 24 hours of required annual training within the fiscal
year (July 1 - June 30)
- Be a team player and offer help to other staff when help is
needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to push/pull/lift to 50 pounds.
