The Strategy and Futures (S&F) Team in the Executive Office supports the UNDP Administrator in this goal. The team focuses on two pillars: strategy and futures, which intersect and inform each other.The strategy pillar manages the Strategic Plan and provides direction for planning and reporting. The futures pillar connects and amplifies futures efforts across UNDP, creating a futures ecosystem to enhance development impact.The S&F Team aims to embed a futures perspective throughout UNDP's work, helping countries anticipate and adapt to change confidently.Institutional ArrangementThe Strategic Foresight Advisor will be part of the UNDP Executive Office Strategy & Futures Team, reporting to the Futures Lead. The role requires close collaboration with the S&F Team, other units in the Executive Office, and the wider organization.Duties and ResponsibilitiesScope of WorkThe Strategic Foresight Advisor will assist in designing processes, methodologies, and products for futures thinking, supporting the following priorities:
• Designing a trends and signals system to better capture, analyze, and translate trends and signals into insights for decision-making;
• Developing a UNDP signals report highlighting signals with the greatest potential impact;
• Supporting Strategic Plan goals by analyzing how global trends and scenarios may influence pathways to these goals and their implications;
• Conceptualizing and conducting 'strategy check-ins' to review progress in light of emerging trends and scenarios;
• Establishing a UNDP futures network to connect individuals and initiatives working on futures, providing practical case studies and fostering knowledge sharing across UNDP.
